How to Use PDF Compress

Choose one PDF up to 50MB, set JPEG quality, and click Compress PDF. The tool recompresses only opaque JPEG images (PDF filter exactly /DCTDecode) using a plain DeviceRGB or DeviceGray color space. Images with a transparency mask (SMask) or a CMYK/ICC-based color space are left untouched, since recompressing them could remove transparency or shift colors. A new image replaces the original only when it is smaller; unsupported or failed images remain untouched and are counted as skipped.

Why scanned documents can shrink more

Scanned PDFs often contain a full-page JPEG for every page, so image data dominates file size. Text-heavy PDFs store compact text, fonts, and vector instructions. This tool deliberately does not rasterize or alter those objects, so their size changes very little.

スキャン文書は各ページを大きなJPEG画像として保持していることが多く、画像の再圧縮が全体サイズに直結します。一方、文字・フォント・ベクター図形は元々効率よく格納され、本ツールはそれらを画像化も変更もしないため、大幅な削減は見込めません。
